How to get a reminder for the next dose

A Smart reminder notifies you a set time after you log a dose, for example 6 hours later. Each time you log a new dose, the reminder starts again from that dose. You need to be signed in to save a Smart reminder.

Fever Whiz doesn't choose the time for you. Use the dose interval on the medication's label or the one your pediatrician gave you.

Set up a Smart reminder

  1. Open your child and tap the Reminders tab.
  2. Tap Medication.
  3. Tap Reminder.
  4. Under Frequency, tap Smart.
  5. Make sure Medication is selected in the activity list.
  6. Under MEDICATION, choose a medication if the reminder should count from that medication's last dose. Leave it empty to count from any medication dose.
  7. Turn the wheel to set the hours and minutes after the dose.
  8. Set From and To (see below).
  9. If you share your child with other caregivers, tap Remind other users? and choose who should get the reminder too.
  10. Tap Save.

The sentence at the top of the form describes your reminder, for example "Automatically create a Medication reminder 6 hours after I log this activity, any time of day." Read it before you save.

Reminders are set for one child. If you give the same medication to more than one child, set up a reminder for each.

From and To: which doses count

From and To decide which doses start the reminder. A dose logged outside these times does not start it. By default they are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so a dose logged at night won't remind you.

To count doses at any hour, set From and To to the same time, for example From 12:00 AM and To 12:00 AM. The sentence at the top then ends with "any time of day".

How it works

  • When you log a dose, the reminder is set for the time you chose after that dose.
  • When you log the next dose, the earlier reminder is replaced and its notification is cleared.
  • If you delete the dose, the reminder counts from the dose before it again, or is cancelled if there is no earlier dose.
  • Doses logged by other caregivers count too, once they sync to your phone.

Smart or Daily?

  • Smart: Best when the time depends on the last dose, such as a fever medication given as needed.
  • Daily, Weekly or Monthly: Best for a medication given at fixed times, such as an antibiotic at 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Add one reminder for each time of day.
  • Once: A single reminder at a date and time you choose.

Troubleshooting

  • The reminder didn't go off: Check that the dose was logged between From and To, and that the reminder is Enabled. Also check that notifications for Fever Whiz are allowed in your phone's settings.
  • "Reminders may be delayed. Allow exact alarms in Settings so they fire on time." (Android): Tap Open Settings and allow alarms and reminders for Fever Whiz.
  • Fever Whiz asks me to sign in when I save: Smart reminders need an account, and without one you can only have one reminder. Sign in, then save the reminder again.
  • I got a reminder for the wrong medication: If no medication is chosen under MEDICATION, any medication dose starts the reminder. Edit the reminder and choose the medication.
